REFLEXOLOGY

The history of reflexologyHistory

Records indicate that reflexology was used in Ancient Egypt as far back as 2500BC. From ancient texts, illustrations and artefacts, we know that the early Chinese, Japanese, Indians, Russians and Egyptians worked on the feet to promote good health.

How it works

The feet are a map of the body's anatomyReflexology is a therapy that treats the feet in order to balance the whole body. Its main principle is that by applying pressure to parts of the feet (known as reflex areas), other corresponding and connected areas of the body will feel the benefit. In reflexology the feet and hands are like mini maps of the body’s anatomy. So any body system can be accessed and stimulated by reflexology.

What happens in a treatment of reflexology

Reflexology is a non invasive therapy where the reflexologist will use their hands to apply pressure to your feet. The application and the effect of the therapy is unique to each person.

The Benefits

Reflexology helps to release the body’s own painkillers (endorphins). It can
• help reduce inflammation, congestion and assist with detoxification;
• help with well being, relaxation, asthma, digestive complaints;
• help with PMS, back pain, SAD (Seasonal Affect Disorder) and hormonal imbalances.
